A Royal visitor gave her seal of approval to Fareham's successful Innovation Centre when she visited Daedalus to start the centenary celebrations of flying from the former Fleet Air Arm HQ.

She was impressed to learn about the airfields history and how the burgeoning Solent Enterprise Zone is helping create 3,500 Jobs
She also toured CEMAST and met members of the Marine Coastguard Agency, before presenting the chief executive's Volunteer of the Year Award to Mike Saunders, who served in HM Coastguard for 46 years and helped save many lives after responding to over 3,000 incidents.
The Princess unveiled a plaque and cut a celebration cake made by Fareham Council worker Andrea Cripps whose granddaughter Lydia (4), presented her with a smaller version.
There will be a celebration of 100 years of flying at Daedalus on September 16. Tickets available on line at Ferneham Hall and the control tower.
