A Freedom March is set to take place in Fareham Town Centre to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the twinning of the towns Fareham and Vannes, France.
HMS Collingwood will mark the anniversary by exercising their 'Freedom of the Borough' and marching through Fareham. Around 150 Sailors will march with 'colours flying, drums beating and bayonets fixed', accompanied by the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines.
A timetable of the event can be viewed below:
10:45am The march will start from the Civic Offices in Fareham, head down the High Street and then into West Street.
11am The Mayor will take the general salute and will inspect the platoons alongside her Vannes counterpart. This will be followed by an Arms Drill display, prayers and speeches.
11:50am The march will then head out through the Falklands Arch, back up Quay Street, take a salute, and return to the Civic Offices, marching all the way.
There will be some road closures on the day from 10:30am until 11:15am and from 11:45am to 12:30pm. The roads affected are:
- High Street
- Quay Street
- West Street (from Quay Street to High Street)
- Civic Way
